Abstract
Objective: The current research has studied the position of human capital and the quality of education in the ecosystem of sports start-ups in the country.
Methodology: The nature of the research is qualitative and exploratory. We gathered data from 16 experts in the field of entrepreneurship and sports startups, including founders of sports startups, managers of science and technology parks and growth centers, university professors, and elites in sports entrepreneurship. Semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted. Sampling was purposeful and snowball. Then the data was analyzed by thematic analysis method.
Results: The results demonstrated that the ecosystem of sports startups is impacted by appropriate content, educational and research policies, improving the quality of human capital through the knowledge and skills needed by start-up businesses, improving entrepreneurial capabilities and cognitive characteristics of entrepreneurs, agile and dynamic management, and the ability to build a team.
Conclusion: It seems that the atmosphere prevailing in our schools and universities is not very suitable for the training of human resources required for entrepreneurial and startup activities. Therefore, revising the courses offered in schools and universities can be an important step toward improving the ecosystem. On the other hand, in order to stop the unjustifiable process of brain drain, the government must implement the necessary policies to preserve the young and educated workforce, especially the engineers and elites of the nation.
