Abstract

Objective: The aim of the present study was to design a model for delaying employee retirement in sports organizations.

Methodology: The research method used was qualitative with a grounded theory approach field for data collection. The statistical population included all experts and specialists in organizational management, professors of sports management, and managers of sports organizations, as well as officials from the Ministry of Sports and the Departments of Sports and Youth with over 25 years of work experience, and those who have published articles, books, research, or taught in the relevant field. Managers of organizations related to the retirement fund were also included. A purposive or theoretical sampling method was used to select 17 participants. Data analysis for open, axial, and selective coding was carried out using a grounded theory approach. Open coding was performed through interview analysis.

Results: Based on the identified open codes, axial codes were formed, and a theoretical model was developed using selective coding.

Conclusion: The paradigmatic model was then validated by experts. The model for delaying employee retirement in sports organizations is influenced by causal conditions (individual characteristics, personality traits, job and family characteristics) and considers extractive strategies (motivational and job-related), which are influenced by contextual conditions (managerial, organizational culture, and organizational regulations) and intervening conditions (economic, health, unemployment, job challenges). This model can lead to psychological and professional outcomes.
